2008 Prom Guide
Cover Model
Amy Kao

When Amy Kao of John P. Stevens High School was selected by her peers to model for Prom Guide, she knew it would be a special event. And with a prom dress provided by Terani Prom, prom shoes provided by Sizzle Shoes, and makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Lazarus, she graces the cover with style. Featured with her is Joel Alvarez of Satelite High School wearing Calvin Klein. Prom Guide had a chance to chat with Amy at the photo shoot.

Prom Guide: Where did you first hear about the Prom Guide teen model search contest & scholarship?
Amy Kao: Online; I was initially searching for prom dresses

Magazine: On a scale of 1-10, how psyched are you for the prom?
Cover Model: 12!

Magazine: Is this your first experience in modeling?
Cover Model: No, I’ve competed in many pageants before, and this year I placed in a Taiwan catwalk modeling competition.

Magazine: Do you have a spa/salon day planned with your friends to do your hair or make-up?
Cover Model: Maybe, not sure yet.

Magazine: So, very important question, which designer are you wearing?
Cover Model: Jovani or Tiffany.

Magazine: Have you already got a date for the prom, or are you going with a group from class?
Cover Model: Not confirmed yet.

Magazine: Other than class, how do you like to spend your time in school?
Cover Model: Student Council and International Club— Executive Board, volleyball, piano, viola, spending time with family and friends. Hosting on Channel 22.

Magazine: How would you say that you show “love” to your school?
Cover Model: For the International Club, we are planning to donate all of our profits to help our school invest in future improvement projects.

Magazine: When you’re not in school, where do you spend most of your time?
Cover Model: Honestly…at home. I like to balance my activities and at the same time achieve academic excellence. I study for my endless AP exams!

Magazine: Where are you and your friends going after the prom?
Cover Model: We’re planning to hang out at Seaside.

Magazine: If you could have your pick of a “dream date,” name the celebrity or star you would ask.
Cover Model: Daniel Henney

Magazine: Where will you be going to eat after the prom?
Cover Model: The hotel where we’re having the prom.

Magazine: Who would be the best band or artist for you and your classmates at your prom?
Cover Model: Any band/artist would truly be an inspiration.

Magazine: Graduation is upon you, do you have plans for college or work?
Cover Model: I hope to study abroad in the future, possibly go into business management and minor in music.

Magazine: If you had a time-machine and could teleport to the future 20 years, imagine and describe what you’re doing.
Cover Model: I see myself planning and organizing. I’m not sure what though. Maybe I’m in a business suit planning for an upcoming business trip where I’ll meet the ambassador of Russia.
