Prom Themes

Choosing the right prom theme is one of the really fun parts of planning a prom. Usually this is done by the student body or a committee that has been elected by the student body to set up the senior prom. There are many creative ideas when it comes to choosing a prom theme. Here are a few that you may or may not have considered. Some of them are classics and have been used before and some of them are sort of new:

• Hollywood Prom Theme: This is one of the classics. You set up your backdrop with a banner of the Hollywood sign and roll out a red carpet for couples to walk across when they enter. Variations often include a “Walk of Fame” with stars on the floor or a stage that looks similar to the Academy Awards to announce the king and queen.
• Paris Prom Theme: Set up the Arch de Triumph or the Eiffel Tower at your prom and get that European feeling. Add a few stars and maybe a big full moon and get that romantic feeling from the world’s romance capitol.
• New York Prom Theme: Dance under the Manhattan skyline and set the hall up with classic New York scenery that everyone can identify with.
• Millennium Prom Theme: Go with something new and modern and dress up the hall with silver and glass. Add some laser lighting and set up an entrance as a star gate and you’ll transport your classmates to another world.
• Tropical Island Prom Theme: This one you can have a lot of fun with. Start with a Caribbean backdrop and add in some palm trees on the floor, coconut cups for beverages, and a menu of appetizers from the islands.

Your prom theme should be something that everyone in school can get into. You don’t want it to be too specific towards one group but you can go with things like a Rock and Roll Prom Theme or a Hip Hop Prom Theme if you have enough of the student body behind it. Rain Forest Prom Themes are also very popular. For something different, maybe you want to go back in history and use an event from your home town as a theme, like a Liberty Bell theme for Philadelphia or a Boston Tea Party Theme. Use your imagination and search on line for more ideas. There is a good chance you’ll find a company which can provide you with the decorations and accessories you need to pull it off.
