PROM SEASON
Shopping for Your Outfit before Prom Season Begins May Save You a Few Dollars
To high school students, the term “prom season” means that time of year between April and June when everyone they know is going to prom. To a retailer, prom season begins right after the New Year. The moment the holiday season is over everything goes up in price and the new designs are introduced for the current year’s proms. Most like to wait for this time to go out and purchase a prom dress to make sure they get the latest style, but some would be better served to shop before prom season, particularly those with limited budgets.
Dress designers change their line every year to keep them fresh and new, but there are classics that never go out of style. Sometimes going back a few years to styles that were once popular will actually give you an individuality that you can’t get from the dress that all your classmates want. If you go and look at some of these styles before Christmas you could save yourself quite a bit of money. Then you can have more to spend on the prom limo, the prom shoes, the accessories, and the after-prom party.
Another good time to look for a prom dress is when prom season ends in June. This may seem a little early to begin your search but everything goes on sale at the end of the season. You can get a 2009 dress in July that will look just as good in May of 2010 and you’ll pay half of what you’ll pay for the same dress in January of 2010. Once the retailers enter their prom season everything will be marked up in price.
Of course, a lot of girls prefer to wait on the prom dress until you get closer to the actual date. That’s okay. You can still take advantage of off-season sales on accessories and shoes. Everything is so much more affordable either before or after prom season and you can buy multiple items for what you would normally pay for just one. After all, a girl can never have enough shoes. That should be all the incentive you need to shop off-season.
