Prom Designs

Once you have chosen a prom theme, the next step is to get the prom designs and decorations you need to make it a reality. Some themes are more expensive to pull off than others. If you need a river with running water or a lagoon with live fish you should probably find a prom venue that already has those items available. Constructing them yourself could be cost prohibitive and most schools don’t want the additional headache of live creatures or potential water hazards.

There are different elements to a quality prom design. The first is the backdrop and anything that needs to be mounted on the walls around the hall. You can purchase banners and wall hangings as part of a prom theme package if you like, but shop around first because you’d be surprised what you can come up with when you use your imagination. Buy or rent the backdrops and get a few kids together to help you with the props. You’ll save money and have fun doing the project together.

The props themselves are an element of prom designs that can be purchased, rented, or manufactured. Props are items like an Eiffel Tower for a Paris theme, a red carpet for a Hollywood theme, or a star gate for a Millennium theme. Before you begin on props, think about where you are placing tables and chairs, how big you want the dance floor to be, and what colors you are going to use for table cloths and napkins. Everything has to match so try to visualize the overall prom design before you start placing movable elements.

Once your overall vision has formed, begin putting it together element by element, beginning with the backdrop, then the table arrangements and coverings, then the props, and finally the decorations. Most schools use stars or balloons that hang from the ceiling or float in mid-air. Once again, make sure it all matches. You can buy most of this stuff at discount stores or party supply places. Shop around. You can create amazing things with relatively inexpensive materials.
